'The Walking Dead' - 13 Best TV Shows (Spoilers)
(Part of OTRC.com's list of the 13 Best TV Shows)1. "The Walking Dead" - AMC's zombie drama is one of TV's biggest success stories, shattering cable records and enjoying a growing fan following (including more than 2 million on its Twitter page). The series stars the likes of Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Danai Gurira, Lauren Cohan, Steven Yeun, Chad L. Coleman, Chandler Riggs, Emily Kinney and Melissa McBride.
Why we love it: It's not just all blood and gore and *snaaaarl* (although there is plenty of that) -- it's the moral dilemmas, the shocking twists and the characters' changing relationships that are also getting viewers hooked. Tough times call for tough measures in a zombie apocalypse and sometimes, it seems social norms are for the birds. But as we've learned, "You don't get to come back" from the things you've done.
Oh, also ... Then, for the ladies, there's the crossbow-wielding, mysterious hunter and tracker Daryl Dixon, played by Norman Reedus of "The Boondock Saints" fame. Even the women at "The View" have taken notice -- check out more details about Reedus' appearance on the female-oriented ABC talk show - the women got grabby).Spoiler alert! As Reedus told OTRC.com, season 4 features "stronger character development" and "tells people's stories without not having any of the violence and the action stuff."
The season started out with the characters trying to survive inside a prison -- which, in addition to its security benefits, may as well be The Plaza in a zombie apocalypse -- and battling unforeseeable threats, namely a super flu and the return of season 3's villain, the Governor, who made new friends and acquired new weapons. Then there was perhaps the most heart-breaking death ever seen on the show (Read a RECAP of the 'Walking Dead' season 4 midseason finale, with 15 highlights).
After the chaos that was the midseason finale, the group is fragmented -- subgroups include main character Rick Grimes (Lincoln) and his trigger-happy son Carl (Riggs), Tyrese (Coleman) and a group of little girls (who are sharp shooters!) and Dixon and Beth Greene (Kinney), a cute older teen about half his age who just lost her dad and had been taking care of Judith, Grimes' daughter, who is MIA.
Will everyone meet up again? And will any of them run into Carol (McBride), who Grimes had banished? Robert Kirkman, creator of the "Walking Dead" comics and a writer and executive producer of the show, told TV Guide that she will return by the end of season.
Also confirmed to appear during the second part of season 4 are new characters from franchise creator Robert Kirkman's comic books, including Abraham (Michael Cudlitz), Rosita ( "Twilight" alum Christian Serratos) and Eugene (Josh McDermitt).
When does "The Walking Dead" return? New episodes will start airing on Feb. 9, 2014.
