The trailer for "The Three Stooges" film hit the internet on Wednesday, showing stars Sean Hayes, Will Sasso and Chris Diamantopoulos bring the classic slapstick trio back to life.

The Farrelly Brothers directed the film, which also stars "Modern Family" star Sofia Vergara, Jennifer Hudson and "Glee" star Jane Lynch and features cameos by the cast of "The Jersey Shore."

It was announced in April that Sean Hayes, best known for playing Jack on "Will & Grace" had been cast as Larry in the 20th Century Fox movie. Will Sasso ("$#*! My Dad Says," "MADtv") stars as Curly and Chris Diamantopoulos ("The Starter Wife," "24") portrays Moe in the film.

It was rumored during the film's casting that Johnny Knoxville and Hank Azaria were among those in consideration for the role of Moe. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the movie will be divided into half-hour vignettes featuring the slapstick trio.

In the film, Moe, Larry and Curly are on a quest to save their childhood orphanage when they inadvertently stumble into a murder plot and end up appearing in a reality TV show. Vergara portrays the woman who lures the brothers into a murder-for-hire scheme, according to Entertainment Weekly.

The Farrelly Brothers were originally aligned with MGM and the initial cast was thought to be Sean Penn as Larry, Jim Carrey as Curly and Benicio del Toro as Moe.

"We got everything in place, but we don't have the cast yet," Bobby Farrelly told CNN in February. "But we're looking diligently. There are a lot of good guys out there."

"The Three Stooges" is slated for release on April 13, 2012. Do you think the film trailer does the original series justice? Watch the trailer and vote in our poll below.
