'The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug' trailer feat. Benedict Cumberbatch
A NEW trailer for "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug," the second film in the "Lord of the Rings" prequel series," has been released and features the smooth, baritone voice of Benedict Cumberbatch.
The British actor, who was praised by critics earlier this year for his performance as the villain Khan in "Star Trek Into Darkness," portrays Smaug the dragon. Cumberbatch is also known for his title role in the BBC series "Sherlock." Martin Freeman, who plays his assistant and friend John Watson, reprises his role as hero Bilbo Baggins in "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug."
"Thief, where are you? Come now, don't be shy. Step into the light," Cumberbatch-as-Smaug says menacingly as Baggins enters his gold-filled lair, later breathing a fireball.
The movie also stars Evangeline Lily, who played Kate on ABC's "LOST" as well as returning actors Ian McKellen, who reprises his role as Gandalf the wizard, Orlando Bloom, Cate Blanchett and Richard Armitage.
