'The Dark Knight Rises': New trailer released (Video)
A new trailer for "The Dark Knight Rises," the third Batman film by Christopher Nolan and the trilogy's "epic conclusion," has been released.The movie stars series newcomers Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who plays a Gotham City cop named John Blake, and Tom Hardy, who plays the masked villain Bane, an escaped convict who gains superhuman strength due to a series of drug experiments.
Blake is seen looking emotional, while Bane fights Batman, played by Christian Bale, and utters numerous threats with his menacing voice, which is clearer and louder in the latest trailer than it was in previous ones, an issue criticized by many fans. The clip features a new vehicle for Batman and it's airborne. There is also a wide variety of explosions - vehicles, a football field and a bridge are all blown up. Hundreds of people fill the streets of Gotham and Anne Hathaway's character, Selena Kyle, aka Catwoman, shows off some top combat moves.
The actress studied Hollywood icon Hedy Lamarr to prepare for the role. In "The Dark Knight Rises" trailer, she dances with Batman's alter some top fighting moves on the streets of Gotham.
"You don't owe these people anymore," Hathaway says in a raspy voice. "You've given them everything."
"Not everything," Batman replies. "Not yet."
In the DC comic books, Bane breaks Batman's back after attacking him in the Batcave, leaving the superhero a paraplegic. In the trailer, a bearded Wayne is seen thrown down a well and is seen looking pretty tortured.
Oscar winner Marion Cotillard plays Miranda Tate, a board member of Wayne Enterprises who is eager to help a still-grieving Bruce Wayne, Batman's alter ego, resume his father's philanthropic endeavors for Gotham." Both she and Gordon-Levitt starred in Nolan's 2010 film "Inception." In the trailer for "The Dark Knight Rises," Tate and Wayne have an intimate moment.
"The Dark Knight Rises" is set for release on July 20, 2012. Check out the trailer.
