A full-length trailer for "The Dark Knight Rises," touted as the "epic conclusion" to Christopher Nolan's Batman film trilogy," has been released.

The clip shows Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle, aka Catwoman, warning Bruce Wayne, played again by Christian Bale, of a "storm" that is about to arrive. She also takes a jab at the superhero's alter ego's high social status - a fitting putdown in a recession era marked by "Occupy" protests - as the two dance cheek to cheek.

Also, new villain Bane, played by British actor Tom Hardy in a Hannibal Lecter-like mask, calmly threatens to reduce Gotham City to "ashes." Judging from the fate of scores of America's real pop culture heroes - football players - Batman appears to be facing a formidable opponent.

Oscar-winning French actress Marion Cotillard also makes an appearance as Miranda Tate, a member of Wayne's company's board who tries to help him resume his father's philanthropic endeavors for the city, and Gary Oldman's Gotham Police Commissioner Gordon faces a power struggle.

"The Dark Knight Rises" is set for release on July 20, 2012. Bale has said the movie, the sequel to the 2008 blockbuster "The Dark Knight," will be his and Nolan's final Batman film.

The film also features Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who starred with Cotillard in Nolan's 2010 film "Inception," as a police officer named John Blake.

The new trailer for "The Dark Knight Rises" was released on Monday, December 19, days after CNN reported that Bale and one of its crews were attacked by security guards in China (see video). The actor, who was not harmed, said he had tried to visit a detained political activist in order to thank him and "tell him what an inspiration he is."
