Taylor Swift sings about John Mayer on album?
Taylor Swift expresses her heartache and anger at a man named John in a song called "Dear John," which is featured on her upcoming album Speak Now, but remains mum regarding reports that the track is about musician John Mayer, who the 20-year-old was once linked to.
Mayer, a 33-year-old Grammy-winning musician who collaborated with Swift, also a Grammy winner, on his song "Half of My Heart", has also not commented. The two have never confirmed a relationship.
The lyrics of "Dear John" go: "Dear John / I see it all now that you're gone / Don't you think I was too young / To be messed with / The girl in the dress / Cried the whole way home / I should've known. It was wrong / Don't you think nineteen's too young / To be played / By your dark, twisted games / When I loved you so."Swift told Yahoo! Music that every one of her songs is like a "a roadmap to what that relationship stood for, with little markers that maybe everyone won't know, but there are things that were little nuances of the relationship, little hints."
Swift has said before that she is not afraid to sing about specific experiences and events from her personal life.
"Everything that happens to me gets put into a song," Swift told Glamour magazine. "For some reason, I'm really comfortable talking about my personal life in songs. There, I dont hold back: names, dates, times, expressions on people's faces, exactly where we were and how it felt, what I wish I would have said to them in the moment."
"I do write nice songs about the guys who are nice to me," she added. "Eventually, I'm sure one of them will write a response - that's a pretty scary concept, actually! But I make sure I only write bad songs about the ones who deserve it."
Swift is set to release Speak Now, her third studio album, on October 25. The record follows her 2008 album Fearless, which sold 5.95 million copies in the United States.
