11/30/2011 by OnTheRedCarpet.com Staff

Kanye West is the top artist to beat at the 2012 Grammy Awards in February. The rapper walked away with 7 nominations for his work on the "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" album on Wednesday, November 30, when the Grammy nominees were announced during a live concert.

However, the rapper's album was not nominated in the Best Album category. Adele follows West's lead with six of her own nominations for her best-selling album "21." Bruno Mars and the Foo Fighters tied Adele with six nominations each, including in the album of the year category.

Lil Wayne is next in line with five nominations and critical-darling folky act Bon Iver earned four nominations, with two in the major categories of Record of the Year and Song of the Year.
