Tara Reid and Thomas Ian Nicholas on their high school sweetheart status in 'American Reunion'
Thomas Ian Nicholas and Tara Reid lost their virginity on-screen in "American Pie" and 13 years later, the two resurrected their chemistry in "American Reunion."
"Kevin's always been a good guy and I think it speaks volumes because, you know, this particular story arc is very close to what people probably experience in this regard - going to their high school reunion, running into their first love," Nicholas told OnTheRedCarpet.com of his character in a press junket for the film. "Maybe those old feelings kind of come up. You're not going to end up with that person, per say, but you hope that you don't have a night that you don't want to remember."
The movie, which hits theaters on April 6, sees the characters attending their high school reunion. It stars other past cast members such as main star Jason Biggs, Chris Klein, Mena Suvari, Shannon Elizabeth, Eddie Kaye Thomas, Natasha Lyonne, Chris Owen, Jennifer Coolidge and Alyson Hannigan (Warning: Spoiler Alert).
Nicholas and Reid, who played high school sweethearts Kevin and Vicky in "American Pie," see each other for the first time in years at the reunion and when old feelings reemerge, married Kevin has to face them.
"It was really important for me for [Vicky] to have values and to show that she's a good person and I think that really came across," Reid said of her character's growth in the new film. "I really feel like Vicki has come full circle and you really see her and, you know, she's very relatable."
Nicholas played Kevin Myers in the past three major "American Pie" films while Reid portrayed Vicky Lathum in "American Pie" and "American Pie 2" but didn't appear in "American Wedding."
Aside from Reid's part in "American Pie" and its 2001 sequel, she is also known for playing Bunny Lebowski in the 1998 cult comedy movie "The Big Lebowski" and for her role as college journalist Gwen Pearson in the 2002 comedy movie "Van Wilder," which starred Ryan Reynolds.
The actress made headlines in August when she Tweeted about getting married in Greece to a man named Zack Kehayov. However, Reid later said in October that she was "never really married" to Kehayov. When asked why, she replied that the marriage was "never legal."
The 36-year-old actress recently opened up about her plastic surgery and reputation as a party girl, expressing hopes that she will be remembered for being a good person rather than superficial reasons.
Following the success of the comedy franchise, Nicholas had guest parts on television shows like "Medium" and "Grey's Anatomy" and starred in several small films, including the 2010 political movie "The Chicago 8."
Earlier in the year, Nicholas toured in Europe with his rock group, Thomas Nicholas Band, which has a song in his new film.
"This is the first time that my music and my acting has converged, because I've got a song on the soundtrack of 'American Reunion,'" Nicholas said. "I've tried to get a song on each one of these films but this is the first time that it's come together."
The actor also welcomed his first child Nolan River with wife Colette on October 20.
