Sofia Vergara reveals her healthy New Year's resolution
"New Year's Eve" star Sofia Vergara might be one of the sexiest actresses in Hollywood, but she still tries to make room for improvements with her annual New Year's resolution.
"Every year, I have the same resolutions -- to work out more, to eat healthier, to try to hang out more with my friends, because you know, of work, you tend to get a little separated from friends and family," Vergara said in an interview provided by Warner Bros. Pictures. "So every year, I say the same things and I try! I think I try harder at the beginning of the year and then I start forgetting about it. I always start working out and then by summer, I'm done."
In "New Year's Eve," Vergara portrays Katherine Heigl's character's catering assistant. Their company is catering a music industry party on the holiday, when Heigl's former flame (played by Jon Bon Jovi) shows up and causes drama.
"She's the catering assistant for Laura and she's this fun, you know, Latina who's happy about everything," Vergara said of her character. "Happy about her job, happy about being alive and having friends and she's having a good time and I think she loves her job."
The romantic comedy boasts a star-packed cast that includes the likes of Jessica Biel, Halle Berry, Sarah Jessica Parker, Josh Duhamel, Alyssa Milano, Seth Meyers and Robert De Niro.
"New Year's Eve" is directed by "Valentine's Day" director Garry Marshall and the scripts of both films were penned or co-written by Katherine Fugate. "New Year's Eve" also pairs up other well-known stars. Lea Michelle (Bon Jovi's back-up singer in the film) gets trapped in an elevator with Ashton Kutcher, while Zac Efron portrays the accidental love interest of his former "Hairspray" co-star Michelle Pfeiffer.
Of the film's namesake holiday, Vergara said, "[New Year's] is a special time for everybody and I think most of all, it's the hope of a new year, of a beginning!"
Vergara, who plays Ed O'Neill's bombshell Colombian wife on the ABC comedy series "Modern Family," recently proved she didn't really need to stick to her resolution, showing off her bikini body on Twitter while vacationing with her boyfriend Nick Loeb in Los Cabos, Mexico.
The Colombian actress and Nick Loeb met in January at a Golden Globes party. The 36-year-old businessman and Vergara shared some public displays of affection while soaking up some sun.
Vergara was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Comedy Series, but lost to her co-star Julie Bowen, who plays Claire Dunphy on the hit ABC comedy.
"Modern Family", which began in 2009, is one of ABC's most popular shows. In 2010, it won six Emmys, including the award for "Outstanding Comedy Series". In 2011, it was nominated for another seven Emmy Awards and won five (See a full list of Emmy winners).
Vergara has been featured on the Maxim's "Hot 100" list and was named one of People magazine's "Most Beautiful." The actress recently appeared in the movie "The Smurfs" as French cosmetic executive Odile.
"New Year's Eve" opened in theaters on December 9, 2011. Watch the trailer below.
