Snooki slapped with new charge of annoying people on a beach for July arrest
That headline is not a joke. In New Jersey it is a crime to annoy people on a beach, a charge Nicole Snooki Polizzi was hit with by prosecutors at a hearing Wednesday, reports The Associated Press.
The new charge is added to her two previous violations: disorderly conduct and creating a public nuisance. The Jersey Shore star was arrested in July and later claimed she didnt remember much of the arrest.
"I woke up in the drunk tank, I was like, 'Alright, I must have drank way too many cocktails,'" she told People magazine about her arrest.Snooki did not attend the hearing at Seaside Heights, New Jersey.
Her trial is scheduled for Sept. 8. If convicted of all three charges, she could face up to $2,000 in fines. However, since she has a clean criminal record she will likely face a maximum of $500 in fines for all three offenses, according to Municipal Prosecutor Kim Pascarella.
Pascarella also tells the wire service that footage from the show may be used as evidence. "In this case, because it's reality TV, we actually have video," she said.
Snooki says she's learned her lesson and will stop drinking during the day. "I learned that I need to calm down with drinking," she said. "My dad was very, very pissed. He's like, 'I didn't raise you like this.' I just felt really bad, so I'm definitely going to stop drinking during the daytime. And now when I go out, I only have a couple drinks."
