Snooki reportedly hit with a $7 million lawsuit by licensing company
"Jersey Shore" star Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi might have an ugly legal battle on her hands.
The reality star has reportedly been hit with a $7 million counterclaim by licensing company SRG Ventures, reports the New York Post.
According to the newspaper, Snooki teamed up with the company to launch several Snooki-related merchandise last year. However, in October, Polizzi filed a lawsuit to end her contract and alleged that the company did not fulfill its obligations to get branding partnerships.
SRG Ventures then filed a $7 million counterclaims against the 24-year-old reality star and her management company recently. In their countersuit their company alleges that Polizzi sabotaged their deal by negotiating her own agreements with brands and did not disclose them to the company. They also allege that Polizzi failed to act quickly on the deals they did manage to get her such as Snooki branded lingerie and shoes.
"Ms. Polizzi disputes SRG's version of the facts and looks forward to her day in court," a spokesperson for the reality star told the New York Post.
Polizzi filed her lawsuit in Ulster County, NY and SRG Ventures has put in a request to have the trial move to Manhattan, New York.
"Whether in Ulster County, New York City or even the 'Jersey Shore,' our client will prevail," a lawyer for SRG Ventures told the newspaper in a previous report. "But we hope for an amicable resolution as SRG still loves Snooki and simply wants her to honor the contract she personally signed."
In the mean time, Polizzi and her fellow "Jersey Shore" cast mates will soon be seen once again living and drinking it up in Seaside Heights, New Jersey, on the fifth season of the show set to premiere on January 5 on MTV.
