Snooki Polizzi's ball drop gets moved to New Jersey

12/30/2010 by Kristina Lopez

After plans to have Nicole Polizzi, aka Snooki from MTV's raunchy reality show "Jersey Shore," put inside a ball and dropped into Times Square on New Year's Eve to ring in 2011 received a rejection by the Times Square Alliance, the network announced in a statement, according to the Los Angeles Times, that they have decided to head back to where America first fell in love with Snooki: The Jersey shore.

"We love our Times Square home, and while we're disappointed there won't be a Snooki ball-drop there, she cannot be denied," MTV's statement read. "So we're taking a road trip to the place where it all began, Seaside Heights, and droppin' it all there."

The event was originally set to take place alongside the official ball drop that takes place on the annual New Year's Eve celebration and as part of MTV's "New Year's Bash" special, which will also see her fellow cast members leading the crowd in a collective fist pump to try to break a Guinness world record.

"Don't worry, I'm still gonna be your fricken' NYE hamster ina ball," Polizzi said on her Twitter page. "I wish NYC would focus on digging out @MattyKTalent in Queens instead of worrying about where I'm gonna drop it!"

"The request to have her in a separate ball on a set-back roof came too late and was too impractical to fit in to our outdoor events," a spokesperson for the Times Square New Year's Eve event told OnTheRedCarpet.com.

Polizzi, a 23-year-old who is known for her bright, skimpy outfits and loud voice, made headlines in September when she pleaded guilty to interfering with "the public's right to find enjoyment " while acting drunk on a beach in July during a "Jersey Shore" shoot. She was fined about $500 and ordered by a judge, who called her a "Lindsay Lohan wannabe", to serve one day of community service.
