Jennifer Hudson is bringing her best to the second season of "Smash."

The extended trailer for the second season of the NBC musical show features many clips of the Academy Award-winner, including one of the singer belting it out with the best of them. The trailer, which can be viewed below, also features many new and returning stars including Katharine McPhee and Megan Hilty.

Last time we saw "Smash," Karen Cartwright (McPhee) had nabbed the coveted lead role of Marilyn Monroe for the musical within the show based on the Hollywood legend's life called "Bombshell." Cartwright parted ways with boyfriend Dev and Ivy Lynn (Hilty) was hit rock-bottom.

The new season of "Smash" features Hudson as Veronica Moore, a Tony-winning Broadway star. Robert Greenblatt, Chairman of NBC Entertainment, said in a statement, "Her character will represent someone who reached their Broadway dream but also paid a price for it."

Sheryl Lee Ralph is also seen in the trailer as Moore's mother. The clip also features brief scenes of Broadway stars like Krysta Rodriguez of "The Addams Family" and Jeremy Jordan of "Newsies" in their new roles on the show as series regulars. It appears that Jordan and McPhee have quite a spark between them.

It was announced in mid-November that Liza Minnelli has signed on to do a guest role on the series for an episode set to air in spring 2013.
