According to the CW network, in "Homecoming", Lois Lane tries to cheer up Kent and convinces him to attend their five-year high school reunion. When they get there, he reminices about his times with Lana Lang and Chloe Sullivan. Lane is furious that no one remembers her five days as a student.
Meanwhile, Brainiac 5.0, played by James Marsters, visits from the future by using his Legion ring and takes Kent through his past, present and future, showing him what really happened the night his father Jonathan died, Oliver's current pain. He also shows him his future at the Daily Planet newspaper with Lane, while Kent comes face-to-face with the superhero he is destined to become - Superman.
"We really wanted this to be a positive season and a season of growth and forward movement," executive producer Brian Peterson told TV Guide. "If it happened that late it the season it felt like you're just getting at that at the very last second before his big move into Superman, and so we really wanted it to launch the season, not just cap it off."
The producers also say that the rest of the series, which is set to end at the end of the current 10th season, is already mapped out as of last week.
"Every episode," executive producer Kelly Souders told TV Guide. "That was pretty daunting. We were all sitting in the writers' room, and we looked up at the board and we had it all mapped out. Like everything's now mapped out and we thought wow, that's it."
