'Sleepy Hollow' renewed for season 2 by FOX
FOX has renewed its new fantasy and mystery series "Sleepy Hollow" for a second season after airing three episodes and receiving record ratings.
The show debuted on Sept. 16 and stars British actor Tom Mison as legendary literary figure Ichabod Crane, who goes to sleep in 1781 and wakes up in today's modern world and seeks out his nemesis, the Headless Horseman. He then teams up with police lieutenant Abbie Mills, played by Nicole Baharie.
The series premiere drew 13.5 million viewers and a 5.0 rating among adults between ages 18 and 49, making it FOX's highest-rated fall premiere in 12 years. The latest episode was watched by more than 7.9 million people and earned a 3.0 rating, winning its Monday, 9 p.m. ET time slot.
"The show has proven to be a risk well worth taking -- it's a conceptual blast unlike anything else on television and it all holds together with inventive writing and a fantastic cast, Kevin Reilly, Chairman of Entertainment at FOX, said in a statement obtained by OTRC.com. "I can't wait for fans to experience what else is in store for this fall and even more of this wild ride into Season Two."
