While "Shaun of the Dead" actor Simon Pegg attempts to go on an epic pub crawl in his new film, "The World's End," the actor does not drink alcohol in real life because of his daughter.

In the film, Pegg's character, Gary King, and his group of friends reunite after 20 years and attempt to top their pub crawl record. Instead, they become the world's only hope when it's in peril.

"I'm not a drinker anymore," Pegg told OTRC.com at the film's premiere on Wednesday. "I hung up my boozing glasses and I had a baby daughter and I thought that it was best to be able to wake up in the mornings and be bright and play with 'My Little Pony' as opposed to groaning, so I stopped drinking. I haven't had a drink for three years."

Four years ago, Pegg and his wife Maureen McCann welcomed their daughter, Matilda. Prior to the birth of his daughter, Pegg told PEOPLE that he hoped to be the father of a baby girl.

Pegg also starred in the cult-classic film "Shaun of the Dead" in 2004, a film Pegg is still surprised has garnered such a massive following of loyal fans.

"We made a little zombie film 10 years ago and we didn't even know if it would be seen in the UK let alone here. So to be here now and to have this reception is just incredible, we're thrilled."

With the release of "The World's End," fans of Pegg's previous films can expect to find links in this film that complete a trilogy of stories. However, Pegg assures his films are not necessarily sequels.

"All these films, "Shaun of the Dead," "Hot Fuzz," "The World's End," they aren't sequels to each other but they are kind of linked thematically. It's us taking on a kind of Hollywood film idea and setting it in the United Kingdom."

"The World's End" hit theaters on Aug. 23.
