Shannen Doherty 911 call released: '90210' actress suspected Twitter user was suicidal
The 911 call actress Shannen Doherty made last month to a New Jersey police department to report a seemingly suicidal woman who had contacted her on Twitter has been released publicly and features what appears to be a star-struck dispatcher.
The 41-year-old "Beverly Hills, 90210" and "Charmed" alum, who lives in California, had called police in Westampton Township in New Jersey on November 12 to report about "concerning" Tweets from the woman, who is 27 and had contacted her in the past.
Doherty asked the person for her address and gave it to police. Cops went to the woman's home and said she told them she did not wish to harm herself and denied medical attention.
A recording of the 911 call placed by Doherty was posted by TMZ over the weekend.
The transcript of the conversation goes as follows:
SHANNEN DOHERTY: "This is gonna sound incredibly strange, 'cause it does to me as well.
SHANNEN DOHERTY: "My name is Shannen Doherty and I'm an actress. I am on Twitter ... and there is a girl that is threatening to shoot herself and she lives somewhere over there."
SHANNEN DOHERTY: "I have no idea the correct response. I'm completely untrained to deal with somebody threatening to commit suicide."
SHANNEN DOHERTY: "Especially via Twitter, and, you know, I know that she is, she has stated that she has a gun and going to shoot herself."
DISPATCHER: "Okay, do you have an address, or did she give an address?"
SHANNEN DOHERTY: "I don't have an address. I have a phone number."
DISPATCHER: "Like a home phone number?"
SHANNEN DOHERTY: ... "I asked her where she lived. It's awkward to ask her for an address on Twitter just because of how many other people might be able to see it. And like I said she's ... definitely not fully mentally capable at this point and it's kind of been like an ongoing thing where my security guys actually told me to block her because she's super aggressive and does very erratic things, so they were kind of like, 'You should block this person.' And I haven't done it because I felt bad for her, to be honest. But you know, at the same time, I'm not sitting here like you know freaking out and held hostage."
SHANNEN DOHERTY: "Okay, she just gave me her address."
DISPATCHER: "Yep, that's ... that is in Southampton, er, Westampton."
SHANNEN DOHERTY: "Obviously, I would love it if you guys just call back and let me know."
DISPATCHER: "Yeah, actually we have the police out to that address and we keep you on the phone in case she says anything else while we're on the way out there. All my coworkers can't believe who I'm on the phone with."
SHANNEN DOHERTY: (Laughs) "Oh! Tell them hi and tell them thank you."
DISPATCHER: (To coworkers) "She says hi and thank you. I said you guys can't believe who I'm on the phone with so she said hi and thank you for helping her. (To Doherty) They all want your Twitter account."
SHANNEN DOHERTY: "And my dad was from Ridgewood, New Jersey, so I love New Jersey."
DISPATCHER: "Oh okay. Yeah, we went through all those storms down here." (referring to Hurricane Sandy)
SHANNEN DOHERTY: "I know, how are you guys doing?"
DISPATCHER: "We did fine. We're in Bronson County, which is closer to Philadelphia, so we didn't get it as bad as the shore area."
