Shailene Woodley, Theo James talk 'Divergent' and zip-lining (Video)
"Divergent" stars Shailene Woodley and Theo James made quite an entrance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" on Monday, Feb. 3.
The two actors zip-lined down to Kimmel's studio to talk about their new film and show off a new trailer for the movie, which can be viewed below.
"Divergent" is based on the first book in the series of three young adult novels written by Veronica Roth. It tells the story of Beatrice aka Tris [Woodley], a girl living in a dystopian version of Chicago. In the book, humanity has divided itself into five "factions."
James stars as Tobias aka Four, an instructor in the Dauntless faction and also Tris' love interest. The film also stars Kate Winslet, Ashley Judd and Tony Goldwyn.
"It was kind of fun. We went for it. A good way to enter rather than walking, maybe falling over. May as well do the zip-line," James said of the "Jimmy Kimmel Live" stunt. He later added, "We were worried that, you know, your [Shailene's] necklace might get stuck, my tie might get stuck. You know, it would be tight on the crotch."
Woodley, who has starred dramas like "The Descendants" and "The Spectacular Now," said she had fun taking on her role in the film.
"This movie was really fun for me on a personal level because I got to learn different fight sequences and I got to do things I wouldn't normally do in my everyday life," the 22-year-old actress said. "It was a character that I wanted to explore just for my own personal reasons, not necessarily to share what I could do with anyone else."
"I've never done a movie based on a book that's so popular before," she added. "And I think that often times I get questioned whether or not I feel pressure from expectations of those who know the story and those who know the characters so well and I don't."
Woodley went on to explain, "I don't feel any pressure from that because -- if he [James] was to try and do Four a certain way and I was to try to do Tris a certain way based on what other people thought we should represent them as, then it would be this jumbled, chaotic mess."
"Divergent" hits theaters on March 21. Check out the trailer below.
