Seth MacFarlane is officially out of the running to host the Oscars again.

The "Family Guy" creator and "Ted" writer and director Tweeted on Monday, May 20, that he would not be able to host the 2014 ceremony because of scheduling issues and the need to sleep.

"Traumatized critics exhale: I'm unable to do the Oscars again. Tried to make it work schedule-wise, but I need sleep," he wrote.

In another Tweet, MacFarlane gave praise to Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, who produced this year's ceremony. It was announced in April that the two would return to produce the 2014 Oscars.

"I highly recommend the job, as Zadan and Meron are two of the most talented producers in the business," he wrote in a Tweet. "My suggestion for host is Joaquin Phoenix."

The news may not be all the surprising to some, considering that shortly after he hosted the ceremony earlier this year, MacFarlane Tweeted to a fan there was "no way" he would host again and compared the job to a no-win scenario seen on "Star Trek."

Despite MacFarlane's mixed reviews as a host, the ratings for the 2013 Oscars telecast drew 40.38 million viewers and a 13.0 rating in the coveted 18 to 49 demographic, up from 11.7 from 2012.
