Selena Gomez rushed to hospital after 'Tonight Show' appearance
Selena Gomez was recently taken to a hospital after falling ill following a "Tonight Show" appearance and has been forced to cancel a scheduled Friday event at an outdoor shopping mall in Santa Monica, California.
The 18-year-old pop singer and actress was set to perform at Santa Monica Place as part of a mall tour to promote her new romantic comedy film "Monte Carlo," which is set for release on July 1.
"Last night after Selena's appearance on 'The Tonight Show,' she wasn't feeling well and was taken to the hospital," Gomez's spokesperson said in a statement to OnTheRedCarpet.com on Friday, June 10. "She is currently undergoing routine tests. Unfortunately due to these unforeseen circumstances, today's scheduled appearance in Santa Monica has been canceled."
Gomez's ailment was not revealed. Her boyfriend, teen pop star Justin Bieber, used his Twitter page, following by some 10 million fans, to wish Gomez well and spread a potential trending topic, saying: #getwellselena.
"Monte Carlo" tells of three young women who visit Paris and end up in Monte Carlo after one of the girls, played by Gomez, is mistaken for a British heiress. The movie also stars "Gossip Girl" actresses Leighton Meester and Katie Cassidy as well as "Glee" actor Cory Monteith.
During her interview on "The Tonight Show," Gomez appeared to be in good spirits as she talked about "Monte Carlo" and also about how she obtained her driver's license six months ago. She said she has since gotten into an accident, hitting a pole with her car.
"I was very stressed and I reversed and I hit it," she said. "I was not texting, I was stressed. There were photographers following me so I got scared."
Gomez is also preparing for the big release of her third studio album, "When The Sun Goes Down" on June 28 and told OnTheRedCarpet.com at the MTV Movie Awards that she hopes her fans will be as inspired by her new music, as they were by her recently released single "Who Says."
