Selena Gomez didn't get punched, Justin Bieber apologizes for giving paparazzi the finger
Justin Bieber's 17th birthday bash caused paparazzi to swarm around him and his rumored girlfriend Selena Gomez in Los Angeles on Tuesday night.
After the party, photos surfaced of Gomez, the 18-year-old star of the Disney Channel series "Wizards of Waverly Place," covering her face and seen with what looked like a swollen lip. Rumors began surfacing on Twitter that an angry Bieber fan had punched the actress in the face during the dinner and the hash tag #sorryjustin began trending on the social networking site.
However, the actress' spokesperson denied the rumors to People magazine saying that there was "absolutely no truth" to the rumors.
Meanwhile, the singer had to issue an apology on Tuesday after photos from his birthday dinner showed the pop sensation sticking up his middle finger to the photographers surrounding his car.
"Had a great bday and at the end of the night we got surrounded by paps and I reacted in a way I know better. I'm sorry," the singer wrote on his official Twitter page Tuesday. He later added, "It's not always easy but I know better than to react in anger."
The singer and Gomez attended the Vanity Fair's Oscar after-party together on Sunday, Feb. 2011 following the Academy Awards, fueling even more speculation of a romance between the two teen celebrities.
Bieber and Gomez have not confirmed a relationship but have in the past few months been the target of dating rumors.
For his birthday the singer asked fans to make donations to Charity: Water, a non-profit organization that brings clean water to developing nations. The singer said on his Twitter page on Tuesday, "I need to say THANK U to my fans. we raised over 40k for @charitywater for my bday. we together #madeachange."
In addition, a lock of Bieber's hair sold on eBay for $40,688 on Wednesday. The hair was put up for auction by Ellen DeGeneres and the money will go to Gentle Barn, an animal rescue organization chosen by the talk show host.
