'Seinfeld' actor Daniel von Bargen survives suicide attempt
"Seinfeld" actor Daniel von Bargen survived a suicide attempt, after shooting himself in the temple on Monday.
The actor called 911 on Monday morning and entertainment outlet TMZ obtained a tape of his emergency call. Law enforcement told TMZ that they were dispatched to the actor's apartment in Cincinnati, Ohio, shortly after receiving the call. Bargen was transported to a hospital and is in critical condition.
Bargen told the 911 operator, "I've shot myself in the head... and I need help... I shot in my temple."
When asked if the wound was an accident, Bargen, who is a diabetic said, "I was supposed to go to the hospital and I didn't want to. I shot myself... They were supposed to amputate at least a few toes."
The 61-year-old actor is best known for his roles in films like "The Silence of the Lambs," "Super Troopers," "G.I. Jane" and "O Brother, Where Art Thou?"
He also appeared on "Seinfeld" as George Costanza's boss, Mr. Kruger and on TV series like "Malcolm in the Middle," "All My Children" and "Law & Order."
