Sean Lowe is ABC's new 'Bachelor' - good choice? (Poll)
Sean Lowe, who played third on the previous season of ABC reality show "The Bachelorette," has been confirmed to be the new star of the network's upcoming 17th season of "The Bachelor."
The 28-year-old, who is from Arlington Texas, will choose from among 24 female contestants. The new season is set to premiere in January 2013, ABC announced in a statement to OTRC.com on Tuesday, September 25.
The network describes Lowe as a 6'3" "successful Dallas businessman and entrepreneur" and a "real romantic." He attended Kansas State University on a football scholarship and graduated with a degree in social science, ABC said, adding that he was a linebacker on the football school's team, which competed in the 2003 Big 12 Conference Championship."I love the little things in life like good food, road trips, TX country music and great conversation. Most importantly, I love Jesus!" he says on his Twitter page.
ABC added that Lowe has "varied hobbies and interests, including camping, wakeboarding, dancing, outdoor activities, attending concerts and doing just about anything with his two dogs, Lola and Ellie."
Late last year, Lowe helped launch a business in Texas with his best friend, Clay. The company, The Factory Girl, sells purses, handbags and custom furniture.
Lowe had competed for the love of "Bachelorette" star Emily Maynard, who ultimately picked Jef Holm. In early September, they appeared on ABC's "Good Morning America" to dismiss recent cheating rumors. Arie Luyendyk, Jr. placed second on the previous season of "The Bachelorette."
