Sarah Palin Tweets her support of Dr. Laura Schlessinger
Despite the controversy surrounding Dr. Laura Schlessingers use of the N-word and her subsequent announcement that she will end her show in December, she has at least one vocal supporter: Sarah Palin.
Palin Tweeted to her followers on Thursday, "Dr.Laura:don't retreat...reload!" She later said, "Dr.Laura=even more powerful & effective w/out the shackles, so watch out Constitutional obstructionists. And b thankful 4 her voice, America!"
Palins support comes as a surprise since Schlessinger admitted back in 2008 she was "disappointed" with John McCain for choosing the Alaskan politician as his vice presidential candidate.
"I am extremely disappointed in the choice of Sarah Palin as the vice presidential candidate of the Republican Party," Schlessinger wrote on her blog back in Sept. 2008. "Really, what kind of role model is a woman whose fifth child was recently born with a serious issue, Down Syndrome, and then goes back to the job of Governor within days of the birth?"
The radio host came under fire earlier this month when used the N-world 11 times to a minority caller. Schlessinger immediately apologized for using the offensive term after the incident on Aug. 10.
In a post on her website, she admitted she was wrong for using the word as an attempt at making a philosophical point.
"I articulated the N-word all the way out - more than one time," Schlessinger said in comments from the opening of her radio show that she posted on her site. "And that was wrong. I'll say it again - that was wrong."
Schlessinger announced the departure from her radio show on Larry King Live on Aug. 17 saying, "My contract is up for my radio show at the end of the year and I've made the decision not to do radio anymore." She added. "The reason is, I want to regain my First Amendment rights."
This isn't the first time Palin has said "dont retreat, reload." In March, she said the slogan after the passage of the health care reform.
