Sarah Drew of 'Grey's Anatomy' welcomes son
"Grey's Anatomy" actress Sarah Drew welcomed her first child.
Drew, who plays Dr. April Kepner on the show, and her husband Peter Lanfer welcomed their son Micah Emmanuel on January 18, Drew's spokesperson confirmed to People magazine.
"She and her husband, Peter Lanfer, are in love with him!" Drew's rep told People of the baby, who weighted 7 lbs 4 oz and is 19 inches long.
The 31-year-old actress also explained why she decided not to find out her baby's gender before he entered the world.
"I thought it would be a good idea to wait to find out because I am a control freak by nature," Drew told the weekly. "I'm about to walk into a chapter of my life where I have no control over anything anymore, and I figured I'd ease myself into it by not allowing myself to plan for the sex of the baby. It's good training for me!"
Drew is the second "Grey's Anatomy" cast member with a growing family. Actor Eric Dane and wife Rebecca Gayheart welcomed their second child, daughter Georgia Geraldine in December. The two also have daughter Billie Beatrice, who was born on March 3, 2010.
Dane plays Dr. Mark Sloan, aka "McSteamy" on the ABC medical drama series "Grey's Anatomy," which returned for its eighth season in September 2011.
