Sara Bareilles leaving 'The Sing-Off' after judging season 3, reports say
After replacing Nicole Scherzinger on the third season of NBC's "The Sing-Off," singer Sara Bareilles is reportedly not returning for the show's new season.
Bareilles is leaving the series to focus on her music career, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The reality competition series is set to return to the air for its fourth season later this year. The series' third season finale aired in November 2011. The group Pentatonix from Arlington, Texas, won.
The singer served as a judge in season three alongside Boyz II Men singer Shawn Stockman and singer Ben Folds. NBC has not announced whether Stockman or Folds will return for the new season. It is also unclear if the show's original host, Nick Lachey, will return to host again.
According to the report, the fourth season of "The Sing-Off" will debut during the holiday season. The talent search for the series will begin on April 27, with auditions in Nashville, Chicago, Los Angeles and New York City.
Bareilles is likely best known for the 2007 hit single "Love Song." She has released three studio albums and in 2012, she released the EP "Once Upon Another Time." Bareilles has recently hinted about making a new studio album. She also announced in March that she was going to do an 18 city tour.
"Hi little ones. I am going on tour. Solo style. More to come, but here are the dates. :) #thebraveenoughtour," she Tweeted on March 27.
She later Tweeted on April 1, "Woah. My tour sold out. Except for Toronto. This is not an April Fool's joke. But it would be an awesome one. Especially for Toronto."
The signer also has an upcoming appearance on the NBC show "Community" that will air on April 11, NBC announced in a recent statement about the show.
