Sandra Bullock's New Orleans home attracts tourists
It was only a year ago that Sandra Bullock took home the Oscar for Best Actress for her role in "The Blind Side." Shortly after, she suffered the rumored "curse" of the Oscars and her marriage fell apart within the public eye.
A year later, Bullock walked the Red Carpet stronger than ever and ready to mingle, especially about her new home in the Garden District of New Orleans. The area is known for its beautiful homes and bus tours, which happens to stop right in front of Bullock's home.
"Isn't that sweet? I'll step outside in the morning on the porch and there's like a group of 30 people there for the Garden District tour," Bullock told OnTheRedCarpet.com at the 2011 Academy Awards in Los Angeles. "And they don't want to see me. They want to see the house."
Sandra's home is known as the Koch-Mays House/J. Eustis House, a beautiful and ornate 19th century home.
The 6,000 square-foot home features gables and iron-work and was sold in June 2009 for $2.25 million, in cash, by an incorporated company with a lawyer who has ties to Bullock, according to Nola.com.
What does Bullock's newest addition, her one-year-old adopted son, Louis have to say about the tours?
"Mom what's up? Why aren't they looking at us?" Bullock said.
Louis Bardo Bullock was born in New Orleans and brought home in January 2010, although the news of his adoption was not released until after the 2010 Academy Awards. Bullock, and her now ex-husband, Jesse James, began the adoption process four years ago.
The baby is named after Louis Armstrong, who had touched Bullock with his signature song, "What a Wonderful World," she told People magazine.
Sandra has a long history with New Orleans and has been helping out Warren East High School, one of the schools flooded by Hurricane Katrina. Bullock has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to Warren Easton High for scholarships, new band uniforms, auditorium renovations and a new health clinic.
Bullock filed for divorce in April 2010 amid reports James cheated on her, which he later confirmed. It was finalized in June 2010. He then began dating "LA Ink" reality star Kat Von D and the two said in January 2011 that they were engaged.
Bullock presented at the 83rd annual Academy Awards in Los Angeles, on Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011 for Best Actor in a Leading Role. Bullock joked around with the categories nominees, telling Javier Bardem, 2010 Best Supporting Actor winner for "No Country for Old Men," "Hola Javier&You managed to scare an entire nation. With a haircut." She presented British actor Colin Firth with the Best Actor Oscar for his role in "The Kings Speech."
Bullock rocked the red carpet in a glamorous red strapless Vera Wang gown teamed with Jimmy Choo Vita heels and a red croc leather clutch bag.
