Ryan Reynolds opens up about divorce from Scarlett Johansson
Actor Ryan Reynolds opened up about his divorce from actress Scarlett Johansson, his wife of two years, in a new interview with Details magazine.
"Anyone who gets divorced goes through a lot of pain," the 34-year-old tells the magazine. "But you come out of it. I'm not out of it yet. At all. But I sense that as I do come through it, there's optimism."
He adds, "I don't think I want to get married again, but you always reevaluate these things. Any kind of crisis can be good. It wakes you up. I gotta say, I'm a different person than I was six months ago."
Reynolds filed for divorce in December. Johansson, a 26-year-old New York native who starred in "Lost in Translation" and "Iron Man 2", and Reynolds, a 34-year-old Canadian actor who can be seen "Green Lantern," wed on Sept. 27, 2008 in Canada after dating for about a year. They have no children.
Reynolds cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split, according to the legal papers, which were filed on Thursday. Johansson filed her divorce response and the two listed December 14 as the date of their separation.
"After long and careful consideration on both our parts, we've decided to end our marriage," Reynolds' spokesperson had quoted the actor in December as saying about the split. "We entered our relationship with love and it's with love and kindness we leave it. While privacy isn't expected, it's certainly appreciated."
"Departing a relationship and still maintaining the idea that this is still the same person I married is a great luxury that I experienced," the actor said in his interview with the magazine, which hits newsstands on June 7. "Thankfully I was in a relationship where two people chose to remain on the high road in every regard."
"The Green Lantern" is set for release on June 17, 2011 and also stars "Gossip Girl" actress Blake Lively as Carol Ferris, the love interest of the Green Lantern's alter-ego, Hal Jordan.
