Ryan Phillippe says he's 'very happy' for Reese Witherspoon's engagement
Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe can be added to the very short list of ex-couples in Hollywood that manage to keep it classy after a split.
After it was announced on December 28 that his ex-wife is engaged to boyfriend and Hollywood agent Jim Toth, Philippe told the New York Daily News in a statement, "I'm very happy for both Reese and Jim." He added, "I wish nothing but the best for the mother of my children."
Phillippe, 36, and Witherspoon, 34, were married from 1999 to 2008. The two are parents to daughter Ava, 11 and son Deacon, 7.
The actor, who has starred in films like "Cruel Intentions" and "Stop Loss," has been recently linked to "Mama Mia" star Amanda Seyfried. In the May issue of Men's Health magazine, Phillippe told the interviewer he had "sadness and complicated feelings about my divorce."
Witherspoon's spokesperson told OnTheRedCarpet.com on Tuesday that her client and Toth were "extremely happy" about their engagement. Further details have not been revealed and it is unclear how long Witherspoon and Toth have been engaged.
The actress and Toth, 40, were first linked together in January, not long after she and actor Jake Gyllenhaal, 29, confirmed they had broken up after dating for about three years. Witherspoon and Toth fended off engagement rumors in October.
