Ryan Phillippe gets kids a dog after son suffers injuries
Ryan Phillippe says he recently gave his children a dog after his son kept coming home from school with mysterious injuries.
Phillippe, 36, and his 34-year-old ex-wife, actress Reese Witherspoon, are parents to daughter Ava, 11, and son Deacon, 7.
"They are walking petri dishes," Phillippe said on the ABC talk show "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" on Monday night. "My son was home today, sick from school, with a fever. But beyond all of that, he's had the roughest year, physically, at school. He's had a fractured leg, fractured arm, separated shoulder and most recently and currently .. a busted lip. It's the fattest lip ever."
"He has these accidents and apparently, the way he tells it, it's never his fault," Phillippe added. "It always happens to him somehow. His mother and I are starting to be slightly suspicious, that, you know, maybe there's some bully. It just seems like ... how is it constantly happening to him? He's been kind of down so this weekend, spontaneously, we adopted a dog. We went to a rescue in downtown L.A. Here's him looking happier."
Phillippe then showed Kimmel a photo of his son hugging and lying on a black dog.
Phillippe is currently busy promoting his new film, "The Lincoln Lawyer," but has been making headlines in another way - several entertainment news outlets, including People magazine, have suggested Phillippe may have fathered another child. Phillippe's spokesperson had no immediate comment on the reports, which said his ex-girlfriend Alexis Knapp, an actress, is pregnant. She has not talked about the issue publicly and has not confirmed the identity of the father.
In "The Lincoln Lawyer," which is set for release on Friday, March 18, Phillippe plays a villain. He told OnTheRedcarpet.com that he enjoyed his bad guy role.
"The Lincoln Lawyer" also stars Matthew McConaughey, Marisa Tomei, and William H. Macy and tells the story of lawyer Mick Haller, played by McConaughey, who conducts his business from the back of his Lincoln town car while working on a case for a high-profile client, portrayed by Phillippe.
