Russell Brand's billboard vandalized by Katy Perry fan

Russell Brand's new FX comedy series, "Brand X With Russell Brand" premieres on June 28, but not everyone is a fan. A massive promotional billboard on Sunset Blvd. received some editing from a fan of the comedian's estranged wife Katy Parry. The fan spray-painted, "I would rather watch the Katy Perry movie" at the bottom of the billboard, TMZ obtained photos. Brand and the 27-year-old pop singer reached a divorce settlement in February. The divorce is expected to be finalized in July. On Brand's series, which will air in the 11 p.m. timeslot, the 36-year-old English comedian and actor will combine stand-up comedy with audience participation and discuss American pop culture and politics. Katy Perry's 3-D documentary, "Part of Me" will hit theaters on July 5th. In the film, the pop singer discusses her divorce and insinuates that her career was the death of her marriage. "I thought to myself, 'When I find that person that's going to be my life partner, I won't ever have to choose [between the partner and my career]. They won't be threatened or have weird motives,'" Perry says in the film, according to MTV. "Then I started to realize, that's not true... I did everything it took, but it still failed." Brand is not expected to discuss his divorce on "Brand X," which was originally called "Strangely Uplifting." The show will be divided into a stand-up routine, discussion and audience participation. "This show is going be very spontaneous and exciting and a very truthful take on the news," Brand told Time magazine. "It will be in defiance of the proscriptive narrative that we constantly see on TV and in print media. I've experienced it first hand-I'll do something, then I'll see how it's reported and I'll go, Wow, look at the relationship between what's in the media and the actual truth. Whose agenda is being served by that portrayal even in the most pointless and trivial celebrity story. An agenda is always being served. I want to examine that." FX ordered six episodes of "Brand X," which was taped in front of a live studio audience, who often become the butt of Brand's mostly well-intentioned jokes. "I love doing stand-up because you have a direct interaction with the audience. There is no mediation, no script, no direction. It is my great love. What is it other than telling the truth to human beings that are identical to me?" Brand told Reuters. The outspoken comedian is known for playing rock star Aldous Snow in "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" and "Get Him To the Greek" and also stars in the new musical film "Rock of Ages" with Tom Cruise. He will next appear in a Diablo Cody film, opposite his "Rock of Ages" co-star Julianne Hough. "[Diablo Cody] is fantastic," Brand told Time. "And I work with Julianne Hough again, who is very beautiful and a great actor. I worked with her in Rock of Ages. The new movie is more of a humming, nocturnal, adult Vegas-set comedy drama." "Brand X with Russell Brand" premieres on Thursday, June 28 at 11 p.m. on FX. Watch previews below.
