08/25/2011 by Olivia Allin

Russell Armstrong of "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" was laid to rest in Los Angeles on Wednesday evening, nine days after his body was found.

Loved ones gathered at the Church of the Hills at Forest Lawn cemetery in the Hollywood Hills for the memorial. The 47-year-old business man's estranged wife Taylor Armstrong was consoled by her "Real Housewives" co-stars Kim and Kyle Richards, Adrienne Maloof, Lisa Vanderpump, new cast member Dana Wilkey and "Real Housewives of Orange County" star Peggy Tanous, according to People magazine.

According to Us Weekly, the service was not filmed for the hit reality series.

A second service will reportedly be held in his native Dallas, Texas and is loosely scheduled for the first week of September. Russell Armstrong's body was cremated and his ashes were divided between Taylor and his parents.

"Taylor has indicated to Russell's nephew that Russell's family can take most of the remains back to Texas," Armstrong's attorney Ronald Richards told People magazine. "They have a family cemetery there."

Armstrong was found hanging from an electrical cord in a bedroom in a Hollywood Hills home where he had been staying after separating from his wife, who filed for divorce in mid-July. Autopsy results have confirmed his death was a suicide.

Taylor Armstrong, 40, had in her divorce filing cited irreconcilable differences and seeking legal and primary physical custody of their 5-year-old daughter, Kennedy. She also claimed that her husband had abused her physically and verbally. At the time, he did not comment on her accusations.

He and Taylor Armstrong married in 2005 and are said to have separated about two months ago. Their troubled relationship was documented on the first season of "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills," which aired in 2010.

The other cast members of "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" are Camille Grammer - ex-wife of "Frasier" actor Kelsey Grammer, Kyle and Kim Richards, Lisa Vanderpump and Adrienne Maloof.

Two newcomers set to appear on season 2 are Dana Wilkey and Brandi Glanville, the ex-wife of Eddie Cibrian, who is now married to singer LeAnn Rimes.

The premiere of the second season of "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" may be delayed in wake of the tragedy. The show, which is part of a hit franchise, was previously scheduled to return to Bravo on September 5. A spokesperson for the cable network told OnTheRedCarpet.com that a decision about the premiere date has not yet been made.

The Hollywood Reporter on Thursday quoted a source close to the show as saying that the season 2 premiere will be "pushed at least one week and possibly longer in the wake" of the recent tragedy.

Bravo President Frances Berwick also told Variety, another trade publication, that due to the tragedy, the network will re-edit footage from season 2 of "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills."
