Rosie O'Donnell reveals she's a fan of 'Here Comes Honey Boo Boo'
Rosie O'Donnell is a big fan of the series "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" and even compares the show's star, Alana Thompson, to a legendary Hollywood child star.
"I love Mama June. I love Sugar Bear. I love Chubbs," O'Donnell told People magazine in a recent interview, referencing the show's stars. "I love 'em all."
The 50-year-old comedian and former talk show host saved the best praise for 7-year-old Alana Thompson.
"I think that little girl, Honey Boo Boo, she is like Shirley Temple," O'Donnell said. "She has a presence and an intellect that goes way beyond her years."
"Here Comes Honey Boo Boo," which has had its fair share of criticism, has been parodied on "Saturday Night Live" and the Georgia-based family was just spoofed by the comedy central series "South Park" in its October 3 episode.
The TLC series is a spin-off of the cable network's series "Toddlers & Tiaras" and has averaged 2.4 million viewers since it debuted on August 8.
TLC said in a statement to OTRC.com on Wednesday, September 26, it has ordered additional episodes of the hit reality series, following increasing ratings.
"America redneckognized pint-sized Alana Thompson and her self-proclaimed crazy family with 'Here Comes Honey Boo Boo," the statement said, quoting a term that has become one of the show's many catchphrases. "In response, TLC has ordered additional episodes of the hit series, as well as three HOLLAday specials (Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas)."
