Robert Pattinson kisses 'Twilight Saga' co-star Taylor Lautner at the MTV Movie Awards
"The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" was the big winner of the night at the MTV Movie Awards and Robert Pattinson shocked the audience by kissing his "Twilight" co-star Taylor Lautner on the lips.
Pattinson, Lautner and fellow "Twilight" star Kristen Stewart presented an exclusive sneak peek clip from "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1," which will be in theaters on November 18.
The three stars were all nominated in the "Best Kiss" category for "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse," the previous installment in the vampire film series. Stewart was nominated for her kisses with both Pattinson and Lautner. Stewart and Pattinson won the award for the third year in a row and for the past two years, have teased the audience with near-kisses.
"I feel bad because I don't feel like kissing you," Pattinson said to Stewart onstage. "You don't want to kiss me, do you?"
"Well, it's been a long time and I think maybe we should finally go for it," Stewart replied.
"I just think there's someone else in the audience who I think will appreciate it a little more," Pattinson said before he surprised fans by running offstage and giving Lautner a full-on kiss on the lips while his werewolf co-star wrapped his arms around him.
When Pattinson returned to stage, he went after Stewart and said: "I want to take you backstage."
Stewart also won the "Best Female Performance" Award, which she took home in both 2009 and 2010 for the role. Pattinson won the "Best Male Performance" Award, which he also took home in 2009 and 2010. "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" also won Awards in the Best Movie and Best Fight categories.
Pattinson created his fare share of awkward moments over the course of the evening, dropping a few expletives and joking about playing MTV Generation Award winner Reese Witherspoon's son in "Vanity Fair" and her lover in "Water For Elephants."
Stewart, 20, and Pattinson, 24, play lovers Bella and Edward Cullen in the vampire romance movies and have long been the target of dating rumors but have not confirmed a relationship.
In March, "Twilight" director Catherine Hardwicke said that when she cast Pattinson, it was "love at first sight" between Stewart and the British actor.
In November, the first image from "Breaking Dawn" was posted online and showed Bella's hand on a bed clutching feathers. In a scene from the books, the couple's lovemaking during their honeymoon becomes so frantic that they break the headboard on their bed and Cullen bites through a down pillow.
"Breaking Dawn" sees Stewart's character marrying Cullen, turning into a vampire and giving birth to their child, Renesmee. "Breaking Dawn" is directed by Bill Condon and its first part is set to be released on November 18, 2011. The second installment is scheduled to hit theaters on Nov. 16, 2012.
