Robert Pattinson books 'GMA' interview - will he discuss Kristen Stewart cheating scandal?
Robert Pattinson is set to appear on the ABC show "Good Morning America" next week for what will mark the "Twilight" actor's first interview since it was revealed last month that his co-star and girlfriend Kristen Stewart had cheated on him with a director.
Pattinson, 26, is promoting his newest film, "Cosmopolis," an R-rated, sexual film that sees him playing a billionaire who takes an unusual limo ride through Manhattan. His "GMA" interview will air live on Wednesday, August 15, from the ABC studios in New York City, a network spokesperson told OnTheRedCarpet.com. The show airs at 7 a.m. ET.
It is unclear if the actor will address the cheating scandal. The notoriously private British star has kept silent about the matter so far. E! Online and People magazine had reported Pattinson moved out of the Los Angeles home he shared with Stewart and that he then stayed for a while at the house of his "Water for Elephants" co-star Reese Witherspoon.
Stewart, 22, shocked fans of "Twilight," one of the most popular film franchises of all time, when she said via a press statement on July 25 that she had had a "momentary indiscretion," around the same time that paparazzi photos of her and Rupert Sanders, who directed her in the movie "Snow White and the Huntsman," kissing and embracing were published in Us Weekly magazine and posted online.
"I'm deeply sorry for the hurt and embarrassment I've caused to those close to me and everyone this has affected," Stewart had said at the time. "This momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob. I love him, I love him, I'm so sorry."
Sanders, 41, is married to model Liberty Ross, 33, who portrayed Stewart's mother, Queen Eleanor, in "Snow White and the Huntsman." The couple has two young children - Skyla and Tennyson.
Sanders had also issued his own statement about the fling, saying: "I am utterly distraught about the pain I have caused my family. My beautiful wife and heavenly children are all I have in this world. I love them with all my heart. I am praying that we can get through this together."
"Cosmopolis" hits select theaters in Los Angeles and New York on August 17. On August 13, Pattinson is expected to appear at the New York City premiere of the movie.
In mid-November, the final and highly anticipated "Twilight" film, "Breaking Dawn - Part 2," will be released worldwide. In past years, Stewart and Pattinson have attended numerous film premieres, television shows and press junkets and conferences together to promote "Twilight" movies months before they hit theaters.
They appeared together at San Diego Comic-Con in July to meet with fans and talk to the press about the newest film (see photos of Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and other "Twilight" stars at Comic-Con. It is unclear how the cheating scandal will affect their film promotion duties for the last installment.
