Rihanna on Chris Brown: We got a fresh start, we're adults now
Rihanna said in a new interview that her reconciliation with Chris Brown is different this time around because the two are getting a "fresh start" as adults in their relationship.
The 25-year-old singer spoke to Elle U.K. for the magazine's April issue, where she also appears on the cover. Rihanna also talked to the magazine about her future as a mother.
"Right now, that's just what we want, a great friendship, that's unbreakable," Rihanna told the magazine, according to People. "Now that we're adults we can do this right. We got a fresh start and we're thankful for that."
Rihanna first confirmed that she and Brown were dating again in a late January interview with Rolling Stone. Brown assaulted Rihanna after a pre-Grammys party in 2009 and pleaded guilty to a felony charge.
He was sentenced to five years of probation, six months of community service and was ordered by the courts to receive domestic violence courses for a year.
Rihanna told the magazine in five years "I will probably have a kid" and explained that she has a few things in the works that might help her take a break from her hectic touring schedule.
The singer also spoke about her single "Stay."
"'Stay' is a story about having love that close and wanting it to last forever," the singer said, according to E! News. She later added, "You don't have that feeling with everybody, so when you have it, you don't want to let go of it. I would definitely say that [Brown] is the one I have that kind of relationship with."
Rihanna's issue of Elle U.K. becomes available on March 6.
