Rihanna offers apology to reporters after '777 Tour' trip
Rihanna recently embarked on her 777 Tour to promote the release of her new album, and after disappointing reporters who were along for the ride, offered an apology - Rihanna style.
Rihanna, 24, embarked on a seven day adventure through seven countries for seven concerts to promote her seventh studio album, "Unapologetic." The singer invited journalists along for the ride on her Boeing 777 plane, so that they could cover the week's out of control happenings from behind the scenes... or not.
According to Us Weekly, the "We Found Love" singer kicked off her tour by pouring champagne for reporters and voicing her enthusiasm about the remaining six days - and was then nowhere to be found for much of the duration of the tour.
"I know you guys got barely any dirt," she told the plane of journalists after her last performance, according to Us Weekly. "But I had to be good. I still sound [bad]. It's impossible to spend time with everybody, and I'm sorry I didn't. But this was excellent and I would definitely do it again."
The reporters, according to the entertainment magazine, were "sleep, food and sunlight deprived." One reporter even streaked naked through the plane "in protest" while another created fake "Missing: Rihanna" flyers.
Maud Deitch, the associate editor of MTV Style, Tweeted: "Full on anarchy on the @rihanna plane flying from Berlin to London. Chanting, streaking, madness. #777tour #freetherihanna150"
Erika Ramirez, the associate editor at Billboard, also took to her Twitter to document the moment when Rihanna rejoined the journalists on the plane, linking to a photograph of the pop singer.
"Rihanna decided to come out from hiding when descending into NY. Of course. http://instagr.am/p/SQiDORkVaW/," she Tweeted on November 20.
"Normally, I'd be back here popping bottles with y'all ... I had to preserve my voice," Rihanna continued, according to the magazine. "I was worried about my body more than partying on the plane, so I had to just sleep whenever I could. I hope you guys had as much fun as I did."
The tour, which she heavily promoted to her 26 million Twitter followers, kicked off with the first stop in Mexico City on November 14, and then continued on in Toronto, Stockholm, Paris, Berlin, London, and lastly, New York City.
The singer's seventh studio album, Unapologetic, was released on November 19. The album's single, "Diamonds," was released on September 27 and has already reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The singer Tweeted her excitement about the album's release on November 19, posting: "Happy WORLDWIDE #UNAPOLOGETIC DAY!!! Thank everybody around the world who's supporting this album. I couldn't be more ecstatic about this."
