Rihanna nabs her sixth platinum album with 'Unapologetic'
Rihanna has yet another reason to celebrate her success.
In April, the singer set a Billboard record by becoming the first singer in the 20-year history of Billboard's Pop Songs radio airplay chart to nab 10 No. 1 hits on the chart. On Thursday, May 30, it was reported that her latest album, "Unapologetic," has sold a million copies.
The now platinum album is Rihanna's sixth million-selling album, according to Billboard.com. "Unapologetic," the singer's seventh studio album, was also Rihanna's first album to hold the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 album chart.
The music news outlet also notes that "Unapologetic" is selling faster than 2011's "Talk That Talk." Only Rihanna's debut 2005 album, "Music of the Sun," has failed to go platinum. Her best-selling album to date is the 2007 album "Good Girl Gone Bad," which has sold 2.8 million units.
Rihanna won several Billboard Music Awards last month including Top R&B Artist, Top R&B Album ("Unapologetic"), Top R&B Song ("Diamonds") and Top Radio Songs Artist. Check out a full list of winners here.
Rihanna's next single off her latest album is called "Right Now" and features David Guetta. The singer revealed the cover art for the single on Instagram on Thursday.
The 25-year-old singer is currently on her Diamonds World Tour and is set to perform in Barcelona, Spain, on Saturday, June 1.
