Rihanna filed a lawsuit on Wednesday for $6.9 million against a real estate company and several others involved in the sale of the Beverly Hills home she purchased in 2009 after a moderate storm led to severe water damage.

The singer is suing Prudential California Realty, Landmark Design Group as well as LaRocca Inspection Associates and former owners of the home for personal negligence, breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, breach of contract and other offenses, according to legal documents obtained by OnTheRedCarpet.com. The 23-year-old claims those involved with the sale failed to inform her of the structural defects that have rendered the home "uninhabitable."

In the lawsuit the singer claims the home was remodeled extensively between 2007 and 2008 by Landmark Design Group with numerous defective elements. The home was inspected by LaRocca Inspection Associates and a list of repairs was given to the homeowner to fix. In a second inspection La Rocca deemed the home "serviceable," which meant the singer could move in.

The "Umbrella" singer says water leaked into several rooms of the house from a balcony that lacked the proper slope and drainage after a rainstorm in January 2010. In May 2010, an engineering firm hired by her insurance company assessed the damage and found similar defects from the initial inspection and "a host of construction defects in the property including numerous waterproofing defects and evidence of water intrusion."

Rihanna alleges that the construction defects existed before she bought the property but were not made known to her and are the cause of the water damage. She also claims that when taking the construction defects into consideration, the home is actually worth "millions of dollars less than the purchase price."
