Ricky Martin reveals new upbeat music video, 'The Best Thing About Me Is You'
Ricky Martin's new single, "The Best Thing About Me Is You" is particularly upbeat for the Latin popstar, announcing his new carefree philosophy. This is the first single to come out since the artist announced he was gay in March 2010. The music video has already gone viral, with over 1.5 million views since its launch on Monday.
With lyrics like, "Life is short, so make it what you wanna/Make it good, don't wait until mañana!" it is clear from his new song that the pop star has settled down a bit since his "Livin' La Vida Loca" days. In the video, the Puerto Rican pop star is topless for much of the video, surrounded by a diverse crowd of attractive young people.
Martin, 39 posted on his website that the birth of his twin sons, Matteo and Valentino, impacted his decision to come out. The twins were born in 2008, with the help of a surrogate.
"To keep living as I did up until today would be to indirectly diminish the glow that my kids where [sic] born with," Martin wrote on his official website, as reported by People magazine. "I am proud to say that I am a fortunate homosexual man. I am very blessed to be who I am."
Martin's album, "Music+Soul+Sex" is set for release on February 1st in both English and in Spanish. Singer Joss Stone sings back-up vocals for the new music video in English, while Natalia Jiménez performed in the Spanish version.
