Ricky Gervais to guest star in an episode of 'The Office'
Ricky Gervais is set to make a cameo appearance on the United States version of "The Office" on January 27 says NBC.
Gervais will be reprising the role of David Brent, which he played in the original British version that he helped create, according to The Associated Press.
Brent is the smart-alec paper salesman who inspired Steve Carell's character of Michael Scott.
Despite the controversy Gervais faced at the Golden Globes because of his jokes at celebrities, he and Carell had a more playful interaction shortly after he introduced the U.S. "Office" star.
The two have had a mock-feud stir up at a few award shows over the past few years. This year Gervais, who is also an executive producer on the U.S. version, teased Carell for leaving the show this season saying Carell was "'killing a cash cow for both of us!'' Carell then shoved Gervais on stage when he came out to present with Tina Fey.
Show-runner Paul Lieberstein tells the Vulture, It's a little more than if you blink, you'll miss it, but if you don't set your TiVo right, you'll miss it." Of the scene he says, "It's outside of the office, and it's just the two of them interacting. It's just a little nod to Steve and his final year."
