Richie Sambora out of rehab, set to return to Bon Jovi tour

06/08/2011 by Corinne Heller

Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora has left rehab and is ready to return to tour with the rock band.

The 51-year-old checked into a treatment facility in April. On the 28th of that month, Bon Jovi said in a statement: "Our support for Richie is absolute. He is, and will remain, a member of Bon Jovi. Although he will be absent from upcoming shows for the time being, we very much look forward to his healthy return. In the meantime, we will keep our commitment to our fans and continue our tour."

Sambora recently checked out of rehab after being treated for "alcohol-related issues," E! News reported. The rocker told a TMZ.com cameraman at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York earlier this week that he was feeling "excellent" and planned to rejoin Bon Jovi's world tour.

"Yep," he said. "Going out to Europe right now."

Bon Jovi is set to perform in Zagreb, Croatia on Wednesday, June 8.

Sambora has been to rehab twice before. He underwent treatment for alcohol abuse in 2007, months after he and actress Heather Locklear divorced, and has spoken about past addictions to painkillers.

In 2008, Sambora was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving. His girlfriend and daughter were in his Hummer at the time. The guitarist pleaded no contest and was placed on probation for three years.

Bon Jovi rose to fame in the 1980s and is known for hits such as "Livin' on a Prayer," "You Give Love a Bad Name" and "Always."
