'Revenge': 5 spoilers about season 2 of ABC's hit drama
After a bloody and explosive finale of the debut season of ABC's breakout drama series "Revenge," viewers may be interested to know what happens next.
Check out five spoilers for season 2 of the ABC breakout hit drama, which is set to return in the fall of 2012.
1. Someone DID die.
The fates of three people - Victoria Grayson, her estranged husband Conrad's mistress Lydia, and her daughter Charlotte - remain in question after the finale.
"I'll tell you that there was a death, for sure," creator Mike Kelley told TVLine after the episode aired. "There are at least three people in jeopardy, and one that you didn't know about. There is definitely a major death that occurred."
An ABC rep told OnTheRedCarpet.com "viewers will have to tune in to the season 2 premiere to find out" if the main actresses return. Madeleine Stowe, who plays Victoria, and Christa B. Allen, who plays Charlotte, are main cast members. Lydia, played by Amber Valletta, is a supporting character. Also, note that the series shows scenes that are not set in present time.
"We all talked about always finding in spite on her evildoing to find that kind of core of where she's actually coming from," Stowe told OnTheRedCarpet.com at Disney Media Networks International Upfronts at Walt Disney Studios in Los Angeles on May 20, three days before the season 1 finale aired. "That's something that will actually be, I think, dissected as we go on down the road. She has a whole psychological makeup."
2. Evil Daniel is here to stay ... but his sister may be redeemed.
On Wednesday's finale, the Graysons' son Daniel broke up with Emily, his fiance, after he found out she kissed another man. How did he find out? Ashley, Victoria's assistant and Emily's so-called friend.
"Daniel is definitely going to stay dark and get even darker next season," Kelly told TVLine. "Things are not going well right now," Kelley said. "He's reverting back to the person he was before Emily came into the picture, and also feeling his DNA, which is Grayson through and through."
"So, definitely there's going to be a battle for his soul ahead of us and Ashley will be a big part of it," he said. "She's stepping into some pretty dangerous territory if she puts herself at odds with Emily, so Emily's going to have to decide how she's going to handle her and whether or not Ashley becomes a target."
Daniel's sister Charlotte channeled her inner "Mean Girl" on the season 1 finale. She published information about her ex-boyfriend's new love interest's former affair with a teacher to the student body of her private school. "Oops," she said after his angry response.
"So far, she's just been influenced by the family," Allen told OnTheRedCarpet.com about her character. "I don't know if she's quite developed that deep-seeded evil yet. We might be able to save her. The response for me have been positive so far. We'll see what happens in season 2."
3. The Graysons and the other characters are NOT leaving the Hamptons, despite rumors.
"We're not leaving the Hamptons," Henry Czerny, who plays Conrad Grayson, told OnTheRedCarpet.com "That would be taking a baby out of the cradle and putting it into a jail cell."
"There might be some ventures into the city, a bit more, from what we've heard," added Allen.
4. Someone may be getting married..
"I can tell you that season two we are looking at opening with a flash forward to a wedding, to Emily's wedding, we just don't know to who," Kelly told E! Online in February. "Well, I know who, but you don't. And then season three we're talking about opening the flash forward at a funeral and you don't know who that is either. So we like the idea of showing a glimpse into the future and then building towards it. So those are kind of corners of seasons two and three."
He also told TVLine: "I can tell you that there will definitely be a wedding next year and there will definitely be another death. I won't say exactly who's getting married to whom, but that's going to be some of the fun."
5. There is no end in sight for Emily's quest for revenge.
"Everyone knows the show is based on the 'The Count of Monte Cristo,' which of course is not able to kill people outright - of course she has every means to do that - [but] it's about making their lives hell, which she can continue to do forever," Allen said.
"The question that begs is what is Emily's revenge?" Czerny added. "Do you think it's the absolute demise of the Grayson family?"
"And do you think she would be satisfied with that or would she feel like, 'What if I just spent the last 10 years of my life,' - I'm assuming this will go for 10 years - 'what if I just spent the last 10 years of my life doing and haven't they drawn me into their black hole of existence and what kind of revenge is that when I'm living their lives?" he said, joking: "So there's a spin-off series called 'Emily's Resurrection."
