Reese Witherspoon is one of several women gracing the cover of Elle magazine's November "Women in Hollywood" issue. The magazine features similar covers of actresses Penelope Cruz, Melissa McCarthy and Shailene Woodley. In the issue, Witherspoon is honored for her extraordinary contributions to the film industry, which has included hit movies such as "Legally Blonde" and "Walk the Line," for which she won an Oscar. The 37-year-old actress dons a cut-out black Versace dress on the cover and told Elle magazine about her displeasure for many film roles women in Hollywood are offered and how it inspired her to begin producing films herself in order to change that. "I started noticing a couple years ago that I wasn't seeing women as the stars of movies," Witherspoon told Elle magazine. "I'm seeing them as the guys' girlfriends, or so-and-so's wife. I just thought, 'God, if I don't start buckling down and start producing some movies, what's my daughter going to see in the movies?'" The actress has produced the films "Penelope," "Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde," as well as the upcoming film adaptation of the popular novel "Gone Girl." Witherspoon also spoke about her children and how they have changed her life to be more exciting than many would imagine. "Somebody was saying to me the other day, 'Oh, people get less interesting when they have kids,'" Witherspoon said. "I just don't think that's true. I feel like I was so confused before I had kids, I almost got in my own way." "Having kids made me clearer about who I was as a woman," she continued. "I just wanted to exhibit good qualities for my daughter. I was a little competitive before I had kids -- probably really competitive, to be honest. It really made me let go of that." Witherspoon has two children, daughter Ava and son Deacon, with ex-husband and actor Ryan Phillippe. The actress and Phillippe, who were costars in the 1999 cult-classic film "Cruel Intentions," divorced in 2006. She went onto marry talent agent Jim Toth in 2011 and welcomed a son, Tennessee, together in September 2012.
