Singer Randy Travis is out of brain surgery and in critical condition after suffering a stroke.

The 54-year-old Grammy-winning country star underwent the procedure on Wednesday, July 10. His stroke was spurred by congestive heart failure.

Travis was hospitalized earlier this week for a heart ailment, brought on by a viral upper respiratory illness. His doctors said he was in "excellent health" three weeks prior.
