Ralph Macchio notes resemblance to Lady Gaga's male alter ego, Jo Calderone
Lady Gaga took her costumes to a new level, attending last weeks' MTV Video Music Awards as her male alter ego, Jo Calderone and some noticed the pop star's uncanny resemblance to a young Ralph Macchio, including the "Karate Kid" himself.
"Getting the urge to crash the dwts cast announcements tonight dressed in rib eye steaks and a blonde wig," Macchio wrote after the Award show.
The similarities were particularly apparent when a photo of Macchio from his role as Johnny Cade in Francis Ford Coppola's 1983 film "The Outsiders" was juxtaposed with the cover of Gaga's latest single, "You and I."
In the corresponding music video, Lady Gaga performs with (and as) Jo Calderone, who plays her lover in the video.
"The Outsiders" followed an Oklahoma-based gang called The Greasers and included an impressive cast of young stars including C. Thomas Howell, Rob Lowe, Emilio Estevez, Matt Dillon, Tom Cruise, Patrick Swayze, Macchio and Diane Lane.
At the Awards show, Gaga tried to recreate Britney Spears' infamous kiss with Madonna, creating a rather awkward moment with the pop singer who declined.
"You will never find what you are looking for in love, if you don't love yourself," She wrote to her Twitter fans on August 5, along with a photo of the cover seen above.
This video was probably not be the singer's first time in drag. A male model by the name of Joe Calderone appeared in a September 2010 Japanese Men's Vogue photo shoot and fans instantly speculated that the model was actually Lady Gaga in drag. Though the singer never admitted it was her, The Hollywood Reporter notes that her stylist, Nicola Formichetti, used the magazine's photos on her official website and Calderone talks about meeting Lady Gaga.
Gaga announced that "You and I" would be the next single off her album "Born This Way" when she performed on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" in July.
