Ralph Macchio has 'no regrets' about 'Dancing With The Stars' elimination
Ralph Macchio's journey on "Dancing With The Stars" started strong, but a knee injury in week eight took some of the power out of his dances. In the end, during week nine, Macchio and his partner, Karina Smirnoff, were eliminated on Tuesday night's episode.
"No regrets, no, no," Macchio told OnTheRedCarpet.com after the elimination on Tuesday.
"I'll be honest on your behalf," Smirnoff said, "there is a way to not be in the finals but leave on a positive note, and yesterday was not that way. Yesterday was uncalled for, unnecessary."
Smirnoff was referring to the judges' harsh criticism of the pair's dances from Monday night. The couple danced an Argentine Tango, a Salsa and an Instant Cha Cha on week nine of 'Dancing With The Stars.'
The judges gave the couple 25 out of 30 for their Argentine Tango and 23 points out of 30 for their Salsa. The couple earned a total of 48 out of 60. They also criticized Macchio and Smirnoff's dances for lacking emotion and being too wild.
"It was kind of rude and disrespectful, I felt," Macchio said.
"We have the eight other weeks to concentrate on with or without the judges," Smirnoff added. "They're just three people. We have millions of people that were rooting for us and those are the people we love, respect and truly appreciate."
Macchio chose to focus on the good aspects of his experience on the show. "The highlights have been performing, the highlights have been our laughter in the studio, we crack each other up," Macchio said of he and Smirnoff's rehearsals.
"We really appreciate each other," he added. "We have such differences but the general core of who we each are I think is very similar."
