Rachel Weisz and Darren Aronofsky split

Actress Rachel Weisz and director Darren Aronofsky have split after nine years according to E! News.

The couple has been together since 2001 and became engaged in 2005. They have a four-year-old son named Henry Chance. According to the U.K. Press Association, the couple released a joint statement that says, "Rachel Weisz and Darren Aronofsky have been separated for some months. They remain close friends and are committed to raising their son together in New York City."

Weisz's film resume includes The Mummy, The Lovely Bones and an Oscar for her work in The Constant Gardener.

Aronofsky, 41, meanwhile has directed Weisz in The Fountain, as well as helming The Wrester and the upcoming film Black Swan, which features a critically praised performance by Natalie Portman.
