Prince William won't wear wedding ring

03/31/2011 by Corinne Heller

Prince William will not wear a wedding band after he marries Kate Middleton next month.

"'It was something the couple discussed but Prince William isn't one for jewelry - he doesn't even wear a signet ring - and decided he didn't want to," the UK newspaper The Daily Mail quoted a St James's Palace aide as saying. " It really is just down to personal preference."

Middleton, 29, is happy with the decision, the aide said, adding that William's fiance will herself wear a wedding ring made of rare Welsh gold that is already owned by the Royal Family.

These decisions represent the royal couple's personal wishes, William's spokesperson told the Associated Press.

William's father, Prince Charles, who is first in line to the throne, wears a wedding band under a larger signet ring, The Daily Mail added.

William, 28, bid goodbye to his single days with a top-secret bachelor party in eastern England over the weekend. He and Middleton will wed at Westminster Abbey on April 29 and his brother Prince Harry will be his best man.

Middleton is set to arrive at her wedding in a Rolls-Royce that was damaged last year when Charles and his wife Camilla were attacked by student protesters.

Around 1,900 guests were sent invitations to the royal wedding.

The ceremony is set to begin at 11 a.m. GMT which is 6 a.m. ET, according to the official Twitter account to Clarence House. The wedding reception will be held at Buckingham Palace.
