'Pretty Little Liars' star Troian Bellisario says 'Spencer is going to endure a lot of torture' (Spoilers) - See video
Last season of "Pretty Little Liars" ended with a major character death, or so the audience was led to believe, and the main characters being outed as liars in their community while the mysterious "A" continued to torture them with texts.
However, show stars Troian Bellisario and Shay Mitchell told OnTheRedCarpet.com co-host Rachel Smith during a set visit on August 22, that the upcoming mid-season finale of season two will be "even bigger" than the season one finale.
Bellisario mentioned she got chills while reading the script. "We've never done anything like it. It's so cool," she said.
"'A' just ups the ante just like so, so much. In every way," Mitchell added. "Each of the girls is going to have to do something in order to save somebody's life."
Mitchell teased, "The girls are going to be doing some crazy things."
"Pretty Little Liars" is about four girls, Hannah (Ashley Benson), Aria (Lucy Hale), Emily (Mitchel) and Spencer (Bellisario), whose lives and friendships come undone after the mysterious murder of their group leader Allison. A year after Allison goes missing, the group begins to receive messages from an unknown person going by the name of "A" threatening to expose secrets only Allison could've known.
The successful television series is based on the wildly popular book series of the same name by Sara Shepard. The show has been described as the "Desperate Housewives" for the teen set.
In "I Must Confess," the episode that aired on August 23, the girls get tired of carrying the secret of "A"'s harassment and finally tell their therapist, Dr. Sullivan, about their troubled existence under this mysterious person. Fans also saw the return of Emily's first love and girlfriend, Maya.
"As far as where that is headed, you will have to see," Mitchell said. "It's going to be different, but good. Emily is having a good time."
Although Emily has had to deal with the bulk of the harassment from "A," Bellisario said that will soon change. "Because Spencer and Toby [Spencer's boyfriend] are now closer than ever, you can expect 'A' to go right for that Achilles heel," Bellisario said.
The actress added, "Things get pretty bad, actually. While Emily might be on the rise, Spencer is going to endure a lot of torture."
The mid-season finale of season two of "Pretty Little Liars" airs on August 30 on ABC Family. ABC is the parent company of OnTheRedCarpet.com.
